Lewis Wood
Clinical Specialist in Musculoskeletal Therapy & Sports Injuries

Lewis Wood is a leading Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Medical Acupuncturist, Sports Massage Therapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor. Lewis established the Body Align Clinic in 2004 and is one of a few practitioners registered in the UK to offer all these professions and to effectively incorporate them into his clinical practice. He has extensive clinical experience in treating sport injuries and specialises in musculoskeletal conditions. As a well-respected member of medical community, Lewis offers individualised patient-centred assessments. He uses a unique holistic approach to treat, optimise and enhance the function of the human body.

Lewis graduated from the University of Brighton in 1999 with an Honours degree in Physiotherapy. In 2009 he graduated with Honours receiving a Masters degree in Osteopathy from Unitec, New Zealand. Lewis regularly treats professional athletes and enjoyed the opportunity to work at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games offering Sport Massage and Physiotherapy for athletes at the Olympic Village and training grounds. Lewis was selected to join the London 2012 medical team based at the Olympic Stadium providing physiotherapy for the Athletics competition and training venues.

Dan Nicholls
Chartered and Sports Physiotherapist

Dan is an expert sports and chartered physiotherapist, he completed his MSc in Rehabilitation Science at Brighton University after gaining his BSc (Hons) in Sport Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention at Middlesex University.

Dan trained as a pilates instructor with Body Control Pilates, and has a keen interest in strength and conditioning. In addition, Dan combines these skills to offer comprehensive assessments of neuromusculoskeletal injuries and their rehabilitation back to full health. Dan has a background of working in the NHS as well as in elite sport; he is the lead physiotherapist for England Basketball and travels with the Men’s national team. Other national teams Dan currently works with include England Swimming and the U18 England Independent Schoolboys football team. Dan has been selected to join the London 2012 medical team based at the Olympic Village providing physiotherapy for Athletes of all sporting disciplines. Dan is registered with following professional bodies:

Nigel Baker
Chartered and Sports Physiotherapist

Nigel has extensive experience in the private physiotherapy sector providing sports physiotherapy at an international level. He qualified 18 years ago with a 1st class honours degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Brighton, after graduating with a Sports Science degree. He offers a comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment of sports injury conditions by combining these expertises with a Masters degree in Human Biology / Exercise Physiology.

As a driven and focused practitioner he has been the co-founder / physiotherapy manager for a series of clinics throughout the country, namely Sartious, Piriformis and Sona Physiotherapy Clinics (now part of the Nuffield Health Group).

Over a seven-year period he was part of the physiotherapy team for England Boxing and worked for Northland Rugby in New Zealand. He is also the Men's 1st team coach for Lewes Rugby Club. As the current manager of the Southdown Sports Club he is available to treat non-members.

Rooth Smethurst
Sports / Remedial Massage and Holistic Therapist

Rooth has worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years, where she has provided advanced exercise performance training to amateur and professional athletes at the highest level.

Five years ago Rooth gained a Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy. Through detailed assessment and knowledge of the body’s muscular system, this massage therapy can be tailored to your individual needs and ranges from: Sports Massage, Relaxation / Tension Release, Remedial Massage and Pre/Post Natal Massage.

Rooth has recently enhanced her skills further by completing a traditional Thai massage course at the Sunshine Network Center in Thailand, which is a renowned massage research facility. She also teaches fitness assessment for complimentary therapies at Sussex Downs College and is a member with the Federation Of Holistic Therapists and the Register Of Exercise Professionals (Level 3 Advanced).
